Measurement guide

How to measure jeans flat

Use a pair you already like. Fasten it, lay it on a flat surface, smooth the fabric without stretching it and use a flexible tape. Measure the garment — not your body.

  1. Waist, flat

Measure straight across the inside of the waistband from edge to edge. Do not double the number when entering it in Denim Finder.

  2. Rise

Measure from the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

  3. Inseam

Follow the inside leg seam from the crotch junction to the hem.

  4. Leg opening, flat

Measure straight across the bottom hem.

  5. Overall length

Measure down the outside edge from the top of the waistband to the hem.

  6. Thigh, flat

Measure across one leg just below the crotch, perpendicular to the inseam.

  7. Hips, flat

Measure straight across the widest part of the seat.

Keep the method consistent. A 1 cm difference can come from placement or fabric behaviour. Finder shows the delta rather than pretending there is one universal tolerance.
